Can You See Bed Bugs If You Have Them

Donald asks…
Are these bed bugs or just mosquito bites?
It’s 4:56 am. why am i up this early? because I woke up an hour ago because my ankle was itching so badly. The more I scratch it, the worse it itches. So,being arachnophobic, I went on to the computer to see if they’re spider bites. Well, none of the spider bites look like mine. So I checked for bed bugs. They look a lot like mine.
I have two big bumps on my ankle, but they’re flesh colored so you can‘t really see them unless you look close enough. They itch soo bad!! I actually woke up scratching them. They’re in a straight line, perfectly aligned with each other, which is what websites said is typical of bed bugs.
My parents refuse to believe its bed bug bites. They think I’m paranoid and rolled their eyes when I said they look like bed bug bites I saw online. They told me that they’re probably just mosquito bites. But it’s September. And I wasn’t outside much today anyway. And the bites just appeared during my sleep.
Are these bed bugs? If so, how do I get rid of them?!?!
Thanks
James answers:
It may or may not be bed bug bites. The only way to know for sure is to inspect your mattress for signs of bed bugs or an actual bed bugs. In the resource you can see pictures of the fecal remains bed bugs leave behind on a mattress. Other possible causes of your bites include mosquitoes and possibly even scabies mites. Skin allergy can also be a cause.

I think that would be bed bugs.bleach your sheets or wash in hot water. And try putting your pillow cases in the dryer for a while then vacuum your matress and around your bed.

Nancy asks…
I love my husband but I don’t know how to talk to him about things that bug me?
If you have anything insulting to say, you will be ignored so please stick with either advice or encouragement. Basically, I need to vent because I’m seven months pregnant and if I try to bring this up right now, I’ll probably cry and I have to go to work in an hour. Any actual advice would be a plus though.
My husband is a good guy, and we love each other but lately I just feel he’s completely tuning out. I never have his undivded attention anymore. Today is particularly bad because I am tired and sore from work, and working around the house-and being seven months pregnant- and I have to work again today, but he has the day off. Yesterday, I got up early and worked, then came home and cooked and cleaned and he said he was going to work on his work stuff, but ended up spending maybe an hour doing that. The rest of the time, he was playing a video game or watching cartoons online. Sometimes, I wish he’d see that I’m PREGNANT, my legs are tired, it hurts to bend over a lot, and I want him to maybe take the initiative to help me out instead of me having to ask and him being reclutant to do it.
Also, I am SO annoyed that he can‘t just sit and talk with me anymore, like he used to. He ALWAYS has to have some sort of media going on. Once, I asked him to rub my back and he was watching TV and reading the news on his Smartphone…the back rub sucked so I asked him to stop. He got all upset because he could tell I was annoyed. He said he didn’t understand. He was giving me a backrub….so what if he wasn’t giving me “the proper amount of awe” while doing it. Whatever that means.
I am also annoyed that we’ve been having sex now for two and a half years, and I have had ONE orgasm during sex the entire time. He doesn’t like it that I sometimes “do” myself, but he rarely takes the time to try to do it for me, and honestly, now that I’m pregnant, it physically hurts for 24 hours or more if I don’t finish. All the extra blood flow I guess. My veins pop out and stay that way until I finish myself off.
Finally, I am bothered that he is SO weird about the kitchen. I do most of the cleaning, and I enjoy cooking so I do a lot of that too. He often comes behind me and interupts my groove by correcting all these little things I’m doing “wrong.” Sometimes, his suggestions are helpful but sometimes, like this morning, they’re annoying. I was cutting the tops off strawberris and tossing them in the blender, and he gets out of bed, comes downstairs, and plops a cutting board down in front of me. All I wanted to do was just make myself a fast smoothie….and who’s gonna be keeping the kitchen clean, anyhow? Uh…probably me.
I’m just bugged. I still care about impressing him, and doing special things for him, and I need to feel that he does the same for me….especially because my normally skinny body is now whalish from being pregnant, and my emotions are more sensitive than usual. I want him to sometimes pay attention to me, and try to make me more comfortable. I mean, I do that for him when he’s tired or unwell so I don’t see why it’s too much to ask.
James answers:
You have so many issues concerning your husband that I suspect there is something else going on and the feelings are being displaced onto other things connected to your husband. You need to identify the issue causing the all the animosity and deal with it. Once it is dealt with all the other irritations suddenly no longer bother you.

Betty asks…
how to get rid of bed bugs?
i am 14 and i am always being woken up by bed bugs. i have bites everywhere on me, including my face, and i am not able to get to sleep out of fear. I told my mom about them but she thinks that since she doesn’t see any then i am just being paranoid or something. i printed out a pic off google of what the bugs look like and they look exactly like the multiple ones i have found in my bed. i have found 4 adult ones and about 2 baby ones. also, if you can only answer with something like “get an exterminator”, i have no money and my parents won’t get one because they think we don’t need it. HELP! i am actually losing tons of sleep over this and i’m running out of options.
and also, should i still sleep in the same room or is it a better idea to move to another for the night?
James answers:
You wanna wash everything in the room take the bed apart. You need an insecticide with pyrethrin it . You will have to get a sealant to seal around the base boards if you have curtain was then too. Seal all holes cracks and crevices around your room.

Can anyone who had lice or bed bugs tell me what they look like? like description and size and everythign?
Like i saw this black little bug it was narrow like
thin
i dont know if its flat or not
it was longish like maybe 1.5-2 milimeters…
and it was going at a normal speed
it was on my bed sheet…. but i didnt get to catch it
SO if you had it or saw it before, is it possible for a bed bug to be narrow like?
And i didnt really get to see the legs cause it was tiny
and for lice aer you supposed to see legs poping out a lot or for bed bugs?
plus it was wingless…
im getting creeped out since i heard bed bugs are hard to get rid off and see!! T_T
James answers:
Lice actually like to live on clean heads.
Head lice are tiny, wingless insects that live on the human scalp (clean heads usually). They are about as big as sesame seeds. Head lice sustain themselves by sucking blood – just as mosquitoes do. However, unlike mosquitoes, lice cannot fly or jump from one person to another; they can only crawl. Children often get head lice from head-to-head contact with other children, but may also get them by sharing personal items such as hats, combs, or headbands.
Eggs are laid by the female louse. They are about the size of a poppy seed and are difficult to see because their color easily blends in with the infested child’s hair. Eggs are laid near the root of the hair and are attached with a waterproof, glue-like substance that can’t be washed or blown away.
Nits are the empty eggshells left behind when lice hatch from eggs. Dandruff, sand and flakes of hairspray are commonly mistaken for eggs or nits. Eggs & nits are not easily removed and must be carefully combed out with a fine-toothed comb.
Nits vary in color – from yellowish-brown to white. Since the hair grows, nits are usually found further away from the root of the hair. Many schools have a “No Nit Policy,” which means children who have had head lice are not readmitted to school until all the nits are gone. If your child has head lice, it is very important to comb out eggs & nits as part of the lice elimination process.
Live for approximately 40-50 days and go through 3 stages in their life cycle:
Egg Stage: The female louse lays the egg with a special glue that cements it to the hair shaft near the root. The eggs develop and hatch approximately 10 days later.
Nymph Stage: Once the louse hatches, it is called a nymph and is barely visible to the naked eye. The nymph cannot reproduce because it is not fully developed. After about 12 days, it becomes an adult.
Adult Stage: The adult louse can lay up to 4-10 eggs a day – starting another generation of lice. The adult stage lasts about 28 days.
Now that you know the basics about head lice, this section will help you understand how you can successfully go through the treatment, complete elimination and removal of head lice, eggs and nits from your family and home!
Moms who have gone through this experience often feel confused and helpless. However, complete lice elimination doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Successful treatment becomes simpler once you understand the steps you need to take.

Bed Bugs or Fleas..? Can Anyone Help?
This morning was a rather odd morning for me. I’ve noticed a few small red bumps in my cleavage area the past few days, but woke up with them all over my upper body this morning. No bites below the waistline, and I can‘t figure out what it is. I also discovered that the small rash I had underneath where my bra sits is ringworm, I know that my cat gave that to me, because she is sick with what I believe to be several different types of worms. We have de-wormed her several times, and I need to get her to the vet, if only it wasn’t so expensive. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what these bites are. I don’t think they are fleas, because I’ve been bitten by fleas and the bumps are much smaller in diameter. These bites look more like mosquito bites, but without the small hole in the top where you can see where the mosquito bit you. I’m kind of scared to get back into bed tonight… Anyone know anything? I can post a picture of the bite somehow, maybe . . .:/ I just have no idea. .
And By the way,
I have some cream I’m using on the ring worm(: Don’t worry about that. lol.
James answers:
I don’t know what your bites are, but the best remedy for this is to change your sheets on a weekly basis and each time you do, turn your mattress, not just straight over but top to tail as well

William asks…
Bed bugs, or something else?
I was getting bites, about 3-4 a night, every few nights for about the last 1 1/2 months at my apartment. I stopped getting bites about a week ago, but since then (and some time before then), my boyfriend has been getting clusters of bites every night. Why are they attacking him and not me?
The trouble is that we can‘t find any evidence of bugs, other than a couple of strays that are different kinds. We have cleaned the whole apartment up and down and wrapped the mattress.
The bites are a lot like mosquito bites, and they itch, but they last longer and often appear in groups or lines.
Does anyone know what these could be, why we can‘t see them, and why they are attacking my boyfriend so much more than me? Any advice at all will be greatly appreciated! Let me know if you need any more detail.
James answers:
They are difficult to see with the naked eye. Your best bet would be to inform the landlord and an extermination service if the landlord does not offer to fix the problem. But usually they will.
If you’re getting bites, and it’s not explainable, then it’s likely bed bugs. Did you pull the mattress out from the wall? The exterminator usually pulls everything from the walls to spray the baseboards.

Maria asks…
I just woke up to find a baby centipede crawling on my comforter, right near my head!!! I couldn’t find it…?
Cos it was super fast, so I couldn’t kill it!
What is the likelihood it will come back??? I’ve NEVER had a bug crawl on or near me or at least not woken up to it. The whole, it was there when I was sleeping thing, TOTALLY creeps me out!!!!!! I have seen bugs near my bed and rationalized that if they aren’t already on my bed, they won’t be (if I can‘t kill them). Any knowledge to stop me from freaking out every time I go to sleep now?? Or advice to keep that nasty thing away!!! Thank you!
James answers:
Centipedes, and millipedes, in the US are not poisonous to humans. Don’t worry about it. Change your sheets and try to find it.
An outdoor centipede is a dark golden/red color and very flat. It’s legs stick out to the side of the body. A “house centipede” has the same body shape, but the legs stick up before they touch the floor. HS also tend to collect a lot of dust and look like balls of dust running away.
Millipedes are generally gray and skinny insects with lots of legs.
Do a search on Google images for these.

Sharon asks…
Am I schizophrenic or something else I need to know what to do or If I should do anything?
Hey, so I’ve been told numerous times that “I’m different” And I just say no I’m unique but today I was thinking about my life and well I think somethings wrong with me. I’ve never told anybody everything, in fear of what might happen and I generally feel I can‘t which is why I’m here.
It started when I was very young, I used to Hallucinate very badly I once saw a bus drive thru my bedroom and I regret to this day not getting on it and I used to see animals outside my room and I used to interact with pannels on my wall that weren’t there but seemed so real…these panels were my way (I believed) to select my dreams before I went to sleep. Every night I used to wake up in fear of something and used to go and sleep on the floor outside my room. Because when I was in my bed I used to see bugs running across my bed and down the side and I could feel them crawling on me, sometimes I’d turn the light on to see if they were there and if course they weren’t, this has stopped now I’m older. (20). I contemplate suicide a lot…how why I argue with myself in my head why I can and can‘t and it’s very frustrating I see scenarios play out I’ll kinda daydream them of things like what would happen if I killed that person walking by, how I’d do it ect.
I believe I do have some higher ability than other people, that sometimes I can read minds and that I invented somethings in my dreams before they were invented e.g the sneakers with wheels. I believe that the world will end with a zombie apocalypse in 2012 and I’ll prepare near then…im quite OCD with somethings for example I have to pick somethings up with my right hand and I’ll think about how I’ll put them down and I have to do it perfect or something bad will happen to me…linking to this I’m agnostic but I talk to some kind of God…I’ll make deals with ‘him’ for example ‘if you make this work out, I’ll never ask for anything again’ and when it pans out it makes me think more.
I have hallucinated recently, I saw cymbals flying around my room but after what must have been 30 seconds they were gone. non of this has really worried me before but somebody was talking about there life with a schizophrenic and I don’t want to bring that on anybody, what got me thinking was the convocations with the voices in my head…they are like somebody else but me…a 2nd me, sometimes there’s 2 of them. And I will confide in these voices and argue with them, I actually think about what they’ve Said to me and sometimes they’ll insult me.
There’s a lot more but that would be too much to read, if it helps I lost the closest person in the world to me when I was 13.
James answers:
You need help, desperately. Please go to a qualified medical partitioner.
Many people read minds a bit. Particularly of people we know moderately well.
Many people have faith in a God, or Gods, Faith changes things, like how you intellectually see an event, or get a solution to a problem.
You must have faith in some things to live at all. I. E. If you see a bus with the destination board stating “Depo”, is it really going to the bus terminus? Or is this a mistake?
Humans make mistakes, so once I took a bus in the wrong direction that was wrongly labeled, I traveled to its terminus, and then back again.
I assure you the “Zombe apocalypse” will never take place. Too many other predictions of the world ending have never come about!
You still need help, urgently.
